NARCOTICS DRUGS

Drugs are substances that cause changes when taken into the body . They may not also affect a person's emotions or moods. Drugs are essential in the modern medicine & used as they are pain killers. They may help to fight infection. But when drugs are consumed for reasons other than cure or non-medical reason, in amounts, frequency or manner then it damages the user's mental & physical well-being with regular, continued intake of drugs, the abuse becomes dependent. There are several narcotics drugs, such as opium, morphine, heroin, cocaine, hashish etc among which some of them act as depressant & others as stimulant whereas some of them alter the normal structuring of perception. As the addiction increases, it affect negatively on health & damage the lungs, heart, liver, kidney, eyes & such other vital organs of the body.

DRUG ADDICTION

Addiction is a disease. It is a chronic, often relapsing brain disease. Drug addiction is a brain disease because the abuse of drug leads to  changes in the structure & function of the brain. The changes in the brain caused by drug addiction repeated drug abuse can affect as person's self control, ability to make decisions & at the same time send intense impulses to continue to use & take drugs. IT is because of these changes in the brain that it is so challenging for a person who is addicted to stop abusing drugs. Fortunately, there are treatments that help people to get out of drug addiction. 

Drug addiction is very complex. Most of the people don't understand why people become addicted to drugs & addiction as strictly a social problem. Drug abusers should be able to just stop taking drugs if they are only willing to change their behavior. Now a days, through scientific advances we know much more about drugs & how it exactly work in the brain. Drug addiction can be successfully treated to help people stop abusing drugs.
